In what percentage do you count Bo Derek? Always a fan, I was even more astonished by this queen after learning of her recent accomplishments.
In 1979, in the film “10,” Bo Derek had her film debut. It was difficult to ignore the stunning beauty of the young blonde lady with beautiful blue eyes.
But where did she go once her famous Hollywood career ended? Mary Cathleen Collins, better known as Bo Derek, was born in California.
Her mother’s association with the Swedish-American actress Ann-Margeret gave her an early foot in the Hollywood door.
Bo, at the ripe old age of 16, secured an agent via her mother’s connections, leading to her first film part in Once Upon a Love.
Mykonos, a picturesque Greek island, served as the film’s primary location. Bo and her future husband John Derek met on the set of the film.
The two quickly started dating after falling in love with one other. Bo was a young man of 17, whereas John Derek was in his forties.
Even if the age gap hadn’t been an issue, the fact that John Derek was married to actress Linda Evans would have made any romantic involvement between them quite unacceptable.

John’s divorce from his actress wife came soon after he met Bo.
I was somewhat to blame for the suffering Linda Evans experienced. She’d been incredibly kind and generous… The irony is that I ran into her just yesterday.
We attended a charity jewellery trunk exhibition. As always, she was stunning and lovely. When I’m in her presence, I feel like absolute garbage.
Bo told Interview Magazine in 2016 that the habit had become automatic. In order to avoid breaking California’s age of consent regulations, the pair spent some time in Europe and Mexico when Bo was still a juvenile.
In 1976, they tied the knot in Sin City. He was 49 years old and she was just 19. Bo’s career took off after they married the knot.
John used her in his films, sometimes putting her through strenuous scenarios in order to generate interest in his low-budget productions.
Bo became well recognised as a top Hollywood beauty after her performance in the film “10.” Her trademark blonde locks, styled in a cornrow, made their debut in the film as well.
Even though he wasn’t the director of the picture, it was her spouse that suggested Bo wear braids. It was the late 1970s, when everything was light and airy, and I’m blonde, so… So, how exactly do you want to alter your appearance?
John, who is an excellent photographer, had always believed that I would look nice in that style. And we did attempt it.
He then suggested I bring the images to Blake to see if he was interested. She told Interview Magazine, “It would be really good for the part, so you don’t look ordinary.”
Bo Derek followed the triumph of ’10’ with roles in her husband’s critically panned films Tarzan, The Ape Man (1981), Bolero (1984), and Ghosts Can’t Do It (1990). Since then, Bo has guest-starred in shows like 7th Heaven, Lucky, and Queen of Swords.

Since the beginning of the millennium, Bo has been politically engaged, and throughout the 2000 and 2004 presidential campaigns she voiced her support for George W.
Bush and the Republican Party. She voted for Barack Obama, but claims she does not now support any political party.
She has authored an autobiography titled Riding Lessons: Everything That Matters in Life I Learned from Horses, and she has a passion for horses (particularly the Lusitano, a Portuguese horse breed).

She also raised horses on her property for a while. Bo has always wanted to see a stop to horse slaughter and is a vocal supporter of animal rights.
As the honorary chair of VA’s National Rehabilitation Special Events, she is also active in supporting and rehabilitating combat veterans.

Speaking to the Department of Veterans Affairs Office of Public and Intergovernmental Affairs, Derek stated, “VA’s National Rehabilitation Special Events promote the healing of body and spirit.
Which helps veterans improve independence and enjoy a higher quality of life.” To serve as honorary chair again on behalf of our nation’s soldiers is an honour and a privilege.

Both her stepfather Paul Collins and Bo’s late husband John were soldiers of the Korean War. Paul Collins served as a radio operator.
Bo, now 63 years old and a widow since 1998, is seeing John Corbett, 59, an actor and former “Sex and the City” star.
We have fun together; we keep each other entertained. We’ve been together for 15 years, and we still hold hands and have barbecues once or twice a week with our friends,” Bo adds.
In 2002, the two finally crossed paths. Hollywood agent Norby Walters set up a date for Bo and Corbett at his annual Oscars bash.

“I told him, ‘I’m not dating anybody,’ and he exclaimed, “I’ll find you a date, Corbett!” Corbett revealed to TODAY in 2015, “And he hooked me up with Bo.
The happy couple shared their news in August of 2021. Bo and Corbett were married in a little ceremony after being together for over twenty years.
“We’re a very secretive couple. There was no public statement. Our close friends and family already knew, but this is the first time we’ve shared the news with the general public.
So, I think I’m telling all of America, or the globe, that you’re my friend,” Corbett stated to CBS’s virtual audience.

Bo Derek and her family, including her husband, sister, brother-in-law, and their two children, continue to make a home in California.
