Fans have been left shocked that wrestling icon, John Cena is making an appearance in the upcoming Barbie movie, and we’ve finally got a glimpse of his character.
The movie has a stellar ensemble, including Margot Robbie as Barbie, Ryan Gosling as Ken, and several other incarnations of Barbie and Ken residing in Barbie Land.
Former WWE wrestler John Cena’s involvement in the movie has been cloaked in secrecy; however, it has since been made known that he would be portraying a Mermaid by the name of ‘Kenmaid.’
The professional wrestler is wearing an astonishingly lifelike long, blonde wavy wig in an on-set photo that was posted to social media.
Following the release of the image, several fans have been posting their responses to the actor’s character.

One wrote: “PLEASE IM SCREAMING I WAITED FOR THIS.”
While another shocked fan said: “GASPED SHOOK RAN TO MY MOTHER TO SHOW HER THIS IMMEDIATELY.”
“My interest in this movie just reached impossible levels,” a third person commented.
Others have shared that only John Cena could do something so hilarious, “This is the most John Cena thing ever.”
Another added: “John Cena is indeed a unique figure in the world of entertainment. His ability to embrace self-deprecating humour and not take himself too seriously sets him apart.
“It’s refreshing to see someone in his position willing to step outside of the expected norms and bring laughter to his fans. His versatility as both a pro wrestler and actor showcases his talent and adaptability.”
Someone else agreed, adding: “In a world where pro wrestlers become actors, Cena stands out because he’s not afraid to make fun of himself or look silly.”
Margot Robbie said that the wrestling star wasn’t originally cast in the movie to start with, and that the entire cameo happened due to a chance encounter between her and Cena.
While they were both filming, Cena Fast X, and Robbie Barbie, she ran into him at a restaurant in London and immediately begged him to take the part.
“I ran into him because I went to pay the bill, and they were like, ‘John Cena already took care of it.’ I was like, ‘What? Where is he?’ I mean, he’s a big guy. Yeah, I couldn’t see him. But I was like, he’s hard to hide,” she said.

It turns out Cena was filming at the same location as the Barbie movie, so the actress asked him: “Do you want to come be a merman in Barbie?’ and he was like: ‘Uh, yeah.’”
“I was like, surely he’s not gonna agree to it just like that, and he did. He’s so awesome like that,” Robbie added.
Cena has also spoken out about the whole thing, telling NBC News’s Today Show: “It was a happy accident and I think that Barbie and Fast X share a lot of parallels. The cast list is amazing, the Barbie cast list is amazing, the Fast X cast list is amazing.”
The Barbie movie comes out on July 21, and we can’t wait to see it!
