“The View”, a veteran daytime television show, has been captivating audiences for almost thirty years. Famous for its diverse exchanges, it gained a political edge with the addition of Elizabeth Hasselbeck, a celebrity from “Survivor”. However, the recent years have seen the show lean significantly towards politics, predominantly leaning left, which has raised some eyebrows and ire.

This shift has instigated an outcry from over a million viewers, who have petitioned ABC to remove two of the show’s hosts, Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg.

Call for a Change

The petitioners argue, “We desire the return of our show, implying no more coercive shouting or unjust name-calling.” The document brings attention to Whoopi’s relentless focus on Kyle Rittenhouse, who is considered a hero by some in Kenosha, as well as the hosts’ collective critique of Jason Aldean.

Joe Barron, ABC’s Executive Vice President responsible for addressing satire, suggests the network will likely disregard the petition. He believes it’s a manipulated effort by right-wing viewers to terminate a show they erroneously think is underperforming. Barron noted, “The misconception that ‘The View’ has no audience is baffling, especially since it remains the highest-rated daytime talk show.”

Show Ratings: The Bitter Truth

In our current reality, we could not verify or dispute the show’s ratings as they aren’t of our immediate concern. However, it’s evident that the show has been a severe blot on ABC’s reputation. Allegedly facing cancelation nearly every week, “The View” seems to be struggling to maintain its once-prized status. Notably, Whoopi Goldberg, one of the hosts, has been frequently at the receiving end of numerous lawsuits.

In her characteristic style, Whoopi Goldberg declined to respond or give any additional attention to these issues, even though some acknowledgment would have been appreciated. Despite the controversies, the show carries on, reminding us that in television, as in America, the show must go on.
