A social media commenter noticed something weird in mom’s photo, and now her daughter’s life will never be the same.

Being a parent is one of the most wonderful things a person can ever experience. Most new moms and dads are so happy with their bundles of joy that they tend to share that happiness with the rest of the world by posting a bunch of photos of their little ones on social media.

Ashley and J.P. Rosenbaum, the couple who met on the reality show The Bachelorette, are no exception. During that season, Ashley was the bachelorette and she chose to accept J.P.’s marriage proposal. The two married on the show.

When their second child was born, they were eager to post photos of baby Essex on Instagram. Being sort of celebrities, they have plenty of followers and get a number of comments on their posts. Sometimes, those comments are positive, and sometimes, not that much, but one particular comment under one of Essex’s photos affected their life.

Speaking to People, Ashley explained that the comment, which came from a complete stranger, caught her eye. At first, she didn’t pay much attention, but she somehow couldn’t get her mind off the words she read so she decided to look into it.

“Our daughter, when she was born, I was posting pictures of her and somebody wrote me a message saying, ‘Hey, get her checked out’ because she was always twisted, she had torticollis. Someone said, ‘Get it checked out because my son had the same thing.’”

After getting the girl checked out, Ashley was shocked to learn that the stranger who took the time to comment on her photo was right. Essex was diagnosed with torticollis, a condition involving the muscles of the neck that causes the head to tilt down. Although the exact cause is not known, it is believed that this condition is caused by a neck muscle injury at birth. The good thing is that it is treatable if caught early, and thanks to that comment, Essex was diagnosed just in time to get the right treatment.

“We got the baby helmet and everything!” mom Ashley explained.

Ashley and J.P.’s marriage didn’t last long. They share two children together and split custody.
