A Kind Gesture Amid Crisis

Carlos Sepeda Jr. and his wife Tammy found themselves in dire straits after fleeing their Houston home due to Hurricane Harvey in September 2017.

Encounter at Sam’s Restaurant

While seeking refuge at Tammy’s mom’s house, they stopped at Sam’s Restaurant in Fairfield, Texas, where they met Mary Gough, their server.

A Touching Act of Generosity

As they shared their story with Mary, she empathized with their plight and, upon their departure, discreetly handed Tammy a folded note containing $100.

Refusing to Accept Return

Despite their attempts to return the money, Mary insisted they keep it and offered additional assistance in the form of furniture for their home.
