The truth is that this dog had surgery to remove one of its front legs, which is certainly sad, but the pup is doing fine.
What made the image so puzzling is that the dog’s owner snapped the photo right as the dog turned its head to lick its side.
To clear up the confusion, someone even drew a helpful diagram and posted it on Reddit, explaining how the quirky photo happened.
